Kids can be mean. Schools can be cliquey and exclusive. Bullying is a prevalent issue that plagues many schools and children. Bullying can take the form of either physical abuse (hitting, taking of possessions, damaging property), mental abuse (exclusionary tactics, name-calling, threats), and now in modern day form, cyberbullying is equally as devastating (bullying over the Internet and social media). Counseling for victims of bullying helps provide a safe and supportive place to express and process their feelings. Counseling will also teach those bullied coping skills like assertive communication and boundary-setting.  People who bully others can also greatly benefit from counseling. Here, they would start to understand the impact their behavior has on the victims of their bullying, explore the reasons why they bully, and ultimately address and stop the behavior that is causing the bullying.
